Abstract
The Government of Kenya (GoK) has made a commitment to prioritise health in the Economic Recovery Strategy and Vision 2030. In addition, as a signatory to the Abuja Declaration in 2001, Kenya made a commitment to increase health allocations to 15 percent of total government allocations. Over the last decade, total health spending in the health sector has increased and this has translated into better health outcomes, as reported in the 2008/09 Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS).
